Well, no. Let's take snakes for example. I have spent a lot of time outdoors in all kinds of environments. I don't particularly like snakes but am not afraid of them. I know one snake from another but I never kill a snake no matter what kind it is because they have an important roll in keeping the critters in check. I have jumped over copperheads in the trail when I used to run at a local state park and never gave it a second thought. But I do watch where I am going.
To stay somewhat on topic, I am not a gun person so would never have a gun for protection. In my view, the odds of a gun being a help if needed are way lower than the odds that it would be a detriment to myself or someone I love. To each his own.
And as you can see from my signature, we have traveled extensively in our class B in all kinds of environments with nary even a hint of threat. I think the most dangerous thing that we do is get on the highway.
