I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon but rarely do so. I'm not a small person so for self defense, I can use anything that comes to hand. When I had a badge, I carried a pair of fencing pliers under the front seat. They will take the window out of a car that has crashed and the doors are locked in short order. They can also be used as a small hammer.
In my class B, I keep a small camp axe handy. If I ever need to cut or trim wood, it's right there. It too can function as a hammer. I figure if I have to defend myself, it'll do the job.
