I'm considering some trips out west and in some wilderness areas here in the east/north. I've never seen the need to have a gun to protect myself from humans and I've been to some pretty rough places ...

There is a lot of ground between going where you might have to kill a wild hog and going "anywhere."
You would have thought we would have advanced more in this great country since the wild west then we have. Actually I think we had and now are regressing. :(
