A little bit of rain in West Florida

If you are planning on coming to the West Coast of Florida, you might want to delay it a few days.
We have had 9" of rain in the last 24 hours at our house and there is some localized flooding. It is still raining right now and more is expected tomorrow. In our area the winds never got too bad but there were some reported gusts over 50 mph.
The lake behind my house is about 18" above our seawall but we are so high this is not a big deal. It just gives more area for the fish, turtles, and alligators to swim. :B
Just be sure to call ahead to your destination and make sure that the roads are passable. Good luck to all that may be stuck in this weather.
Weather news
With the ground saturated like it is, and with more rain on the way, I would not park close to any large trees. This is when they are most likely to blow over.

I will be arriving at Ft. Desoto on Thursday. The timing could not have been better as one week earlier I would have been there. I have been checking weather and talking with someone who lives north of Tampa. He got a lot rain and wind.

Be sure to call ahead and make sure it is open. There is more rain predicted for every day this week. This is from the local newspaper:
The Pinellas County Commission meeting scheduled for 9:30 a.m. was pushed back to 1:30 p.m. Officials closed four parks because of the weather: Lake Seminole Park, Weedon Island Preserve, Sawgrass Lake Park and Fort De Soto Park.

Arrived last thursday evening. Place was fairly empty...no rain until yesterday.

Been beautify....uh oh...now this place will be crowded.!!!!!
