A little help with a 1995 Chinook Premier appreciated

WE just purchased a 1995 Chinook Premier. As you might imagine there is no owner manual with it so we need some help. Are there some of you that I can correspond with about our new Nooki as we have questions? BTW, it took me a long time to figure out that the auxiliary battery is under the hood...that just goes to show you how dense I can be.

Thanks,

Jim

  • Dakzuki,

I'm so sorry. I post questions then forget where and never check back.

Right now, my questions are about the electrical system. As an example, we stayed at a wonderful RV park in Jackson, CA last night. Had shore hookups that I know were working in the late evening because I had a TV on the plugs into 110v. This morning, as soon I disconnected the shore line the low voltage alarm in the carbon monoxide sensor went off. I check the monitor and sure enough the battery was about dead. We were leaving so I trusted that the alternator would charge things back up and I could figure out (or try) what was going on when I get got home.

We got home, which was about 1 1/2 hour drive, and the battery had charged some but not back to full. I hooked it up here at home to our shore hookup. In about 3 hrs the monitor indicated it was back to full charge.

Any thoughts on why it didn't charge on the shore connection last night? I though maybe the power had gone out and our shore line connection was dead...I nothing to support this idea but also nothing to say it didn't happen.

This is where having the correct manual would be valuable. I have a 1998 manual but things, particularly the electrical, have changed a lot. I would be happy to pay you to copy your manual and send it to me.

    Thanks Guys,

    Jim
  • Jim,

I still have one. Go ahead and ask away and I shall try to answer. No loss not having the manual. It would be good for emergency fire starting but not much else.
  • tarnold, Thanks, I have submitted my application to join.
  • Yes. To get to the files section, I think you have to goin the group, no big deal.
  • tarnold,

Thanks. Are you talking about the Yahoo group CHINOOKRVOWNERS? If I search on CHINOOKRVOWNERS I find lots of odds and ends,
  • Go to the CHINOOKRVOWNERS web site. Join, and you will find the manuals listed down on the left. Start posting there with specific questions and you will receive plenty of knowledgeable help.
  • Burlmart,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the "systems", to a great degree, are the same stuff you find everywhere. I am hoping to find more about the coach itself. I talked with Wagon Trail, they bought the Chinook intellectual property and are going to start manufacturing them, but they didn't have any of the old information.

I would just about soil myself if I ran across someone that had a manual that could be copied.
  • we looked hard at nooks...love the nautical theme.

there are chinookers here who will help. none of the appliances or chassis stuff is much different from any RV.
