That is correct. The brake is designed to keep you stopped and the linings themselves are pretty thin and not really up to the task of stopping the vehicle. The problem is that the brake can fail when the vehicle is in motion and the linings can very quickly overheat and self destruct if this is the Autopark brake with the yellow engage button.
