Never leave the heater on for extended periods. I had a friend with a Cessna 206. He left a pan heater on it for easier winter starts. It ruined a $30,000 dollar new Continental engine by spring time. Turns out the heater was evaporating the water moisture up onto the cam and everything else and rusted it all out. I wish I had a picture.
