All, Thought I would post a thought I had that goes against what everybody does: Conventional wisdom and recommendations say to change your oil after you have brought the engine up to temperatur...

Gonna have to go with ScottG on this. Filters do come off much easier warm than cold. I tried taking one off cold. I had to drive a screwdriver thru it to get enough leverage to get it off. When warm. They come off with little more than hand pressure
If a oil filter was so tight a filter removal tool will not work and a screw driver through it was only way to budge it then warm or not it most certainly will take a hell of a lot more than hand pressure to remove same hot or not
like said changed thousands of oil filters and temperature never made the job easier or harder
could very well have been your perception of such just never been my experience through out my career
opinions always vary on the complexity of situations
