AC and Sirius problems

I just picked up my 2013 Newmar Ventana all electric RV from the shop where some body work was done.
Problem 1- I can't get the AC to run off generator power. Works fine when plugged into 30 Amp.
Problem 2- The Sirius Radio comes on and says "Loading". I can't change channels and get nothing. Sirius says I need a factory reset. Is there something I can do other than to take it back to the dealer which is over and hour away?
  • Dr. Bob have you called Sirrus/Xm? They reset mine with a signal from them.

I believe that you have an diesel generator that may have a DOUBLE pole output breaker. One half of the breaker can trip and power will still be available on the other half. I am guessing that your AC is on one half and the rest of your appliances are on the other half.
  • There is no CD/DVD in the player at the moment.

Does anyone know where the radio fuse is?

Given that the A/C works off shore power this would lead me to believe you might have a high resistance contact problem in the Transfer Switch.

As for the Sirrus, the "Loading" message on mine indicates it is attempting to load or access the CD/DVD. Maybe there's a bad CD that it's trying to access? In Sirrus mode you'd normally see errors like "No Signal" or "Antenna Connection Problem".
  • DrBob, I'm not a mechanic. Did the body work involve welding?

In a situation like yours, I would turn off all the breakers, battery cut-off switches, generator breakers, etc., then turn everything back on. Maybe you have done that already?

Report back when you find the issue.

    Thanks and good luck,
    MM.
  • The generator powers the refrigerator and charges the batteries, so I don't think its an issue at the generator.
  • Check on the generator itself to see if the circuit breaker has tripped. This is outside, under the generator cover, and is a push button reset for the output of the generator.
  • There should be some kind of reset on the radio or the Sirius module...you just have to find it....of course you just cut power to the radio via the fuse and plug it back in..as for the generator..looks like it is a transfer switch issue..runs fine on AC...so one of the generator transfer poles on the transfer switch might be bad or loose (any electrician can do or you can open up switch and look at connections on bus)..in fact..mobile tech can do and they come to you...I have no idea of where in NC you are or I'd help you myself...
