Mine works exactly the same way. I don't want to rain on your parade, but the A/C fans should run but the compressor won't. I exercise mine with electric heaters in the winter. The A/C fans aren't much of a draw. I skipped my twice-a-month exercise this week, though, because of the cold. No reason to torture the thing firing it up in sub-0 temps.
