Has anyone ever heard of a single a/c unit not being able to start and run on a 20amp shore power circuit? We bought a new coach and the dealer says don't run a/c unless connected to a 30 amp service or connected to the gen.
the dealer says. And when does the dealer every speak true?
Fact: If the batteries are low, and the converter is large enough then teh A/C may trip the 20 amp source breaker (Why, Because my converter can draw 10 amps if the batteries are hungry) Solution, wait 2 hours try again.
Also many standard extension cords are not up to a 20 amp load, or for that matter a 15, without serious voltage drop. So use nor more than a dogbone less you have 12 ga extension cords. And then try to keep the cord under 50 feet.. I've done it many times with 100 feet but of 12 ga but the ONLY thing on the line was the A/C and a voltmeter.. Nothing else.
