AC Problems

I have a 94 Fleetwood Southwind DP that has given us years of pleasure. Now suddenly I've lost all power to both AC's. Connected to shore power or genny power has no effect. AC controls are in the bedroom. (Fleetwood Electronic Climate Control) Checked fuses and circuit breakers

Help!

Thanks.
  • Does your thermostat have any display?
Have you checked the fuse on the thermostat, if it has one?
  • Do you have 115 in the rest of the coach while connected to shore or gen?
  • The ac control has no display, has 4 slide type controls, 2 for each ac.

All other elect devices work, both on shore and genny power

open link and scroll down to see ac control panel

  • Do you have an inverter? Mine has a 115 pass through circuit. The power for A/Cs actually comes out before the inverter. Then the A/C goes into the inverter and just passes through. I'm guessing that it does that so that the inverter, when on, doesn't power the A/Cs. On mine there is also a 115 outlet or two that are not powered by the inverter. If it were my set up I would be looking for a 115 outlet that also does not work while powered by shore or gen. If thats the case I would be looking for a fuse or breaker that is before the power goes to the A/Cs, like near the transfer switch if equipped. I am not an expert so take what I say with a grain of salt. I hope I've helped and not confused. Good luck.
  • The thermostat should go down to a master control box. No display could be no power to the control unit. Blown fuse from 12 volt DC supply.
Here is link to parts. It doesn't help to show how it is wired.

    This might help

  • It's highly likely that you have a circuit/relay setup of some sort that prevents both A/Cs from being in the "start" mode simultaneously that has failed.
  • Thanks to all of your replies. I've got valuable info to digest. I'll troubleshoot your comments an reply back with my results.

Fact: When my coach was new,, Sometimes the front A/C would work but not the rear, sometimes the rear but not the front, sometimes both, sometimes neither.. I was.... HOT, and not just under the collar.

Finally rather than return to the dealer I decided to trouble shoot myself, After all. I DO have the training, and a bit of experience.

First stop was the breaker box.. I went to the power source and took my volt meter with me, Never used it.. Noticed one of the wires to one of the circuit breakers seemed to be not all that well clamped.

In fact, It took over 2 FULL TURNS of the screw before the clamp even made contact,, (over 2.5 turns to tighten) That was the worst one, several others too a whole bunch of tightening too.

This leads me to say "Many RVers have a few screws loose" (The kind you tighten with a #2 square bit)
  • Well, guess what! It was the house battery. Low 12 volts. Put in a new battery and we have AC....whoot whoot.

Again, thanks. Looks like my marriage is saved, at least for now, ha, ha
