AC unit for coach would not turn on?

Hello All,
This was not a big deal this Weekend, but I figured I should ask anyway. When I started my generator last Week before leaving for a trip to the Beach,I let it warm up for about 5 minutes, at that time I turned the AC on for the coach, nothing happened. The thermistat was set to 60 degrees and should have started the AC unit. I then turned off the AC unit and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then when I turned it back on again, it was on and working perfectly.
When I got to the beach spot, I plugged into shorepower and went to turn the coach AC on again, same thing, no AC output, no fan, no nothing, just like before, I measured the AC output at the electrical box and it was 118VAC, should not have been an issue.
I let it sit for 5 minutes again, and it worked perfectly again for the remainder of the Weekend.
Any Idea's, it is a 2006 Fleetwood Jamboree, 24D, the generator is a Onan 4K micro quite

Thanks all,
Rick

  • There is a time delay on many thermostats so that may be the culprit. If you turned it off, right after turning it on it could definitely cause the time delay to kick in. It is a safety to protect the compressor.
  • Did you check your circuit breaker in you box inside of camper?
  • I would check the quick start capacitor out but before you remove you remove it short it out so not to shock you. After that take out ohms meter connect to both side of capacitor and watch to see if meter goes high and slowly charge to lower side of scale showing it charging cap is it does it's ok if not it's bad

    Like Grumpy stated.
If you have the thermostat on, then turn it off. There will be a up to 15 minute delay before AC will run.

X3 a safety to protect compressor from starting loaded a T D is used!, JMHO Jb
