I use the ladder permanently attached to the back of my class C. Easy-peasy. Avoiding falling off the roof is, of course, a matter of being cautious and generally safe about doing work.
The built-in ladders are not always the most sturdy ladders in the world; a relatively heavy person might want something a little more sturdy and secure.
