Standard 5-gallons cylinder will run refrigerator for several seasons, so all it takes is finding a compartment where he can make venting holes at the bottom.
I think refrigerator will cost him quite a bit.
Funny on truck camper forum you will find lot of owners going the other direction. They dump propane refrigerators add solar panels and put compressor run refrigerators in.
