Advice removing water stains on front curtains

One very wet, cold stay in Eureka, the front curtains got wet from condensation on the inside of the windshield and side windows.

Now there are ugly brown stains on the outer white lining which is visible from outside - makes the RV look terrible.

The lining is stitched to a thicker green inner curtain layer so bleaching is not a good option.

Any advice from experience?

I hate to buy new ones; it will just happen again if they contact condensation.

Thanks

John

  • When we bought our coach, the front curtains were old, stained and sunlight-deteriorated as well. After looking into several ways to do it, we finally decided to get a local seamstress to make us new curtains. I found the new curtain track tape online through PPL. All total, less than $100 and we have band new curtains that will probably last us for the rest of the time we have the coach.
  • John, my first thought would be to take them to a dry cleaners and have them cleaned and re-creased (pressed). If they have been up there a while (don't know what year coach you have), they might need a freshening if they are in good shape.

ON EDIT: I see that the above post beat mine!

  • Take them down and go to a dry cleaner and let them deal with the stains.
Almost anything else that you can do will involve a laundry and various household products with no guaranty as to the results. The stains are probably just dirt and dust that had settled on the curtains through the years that once they got wet, just showed up on the curtains. They should come out easily but the age and condition of the fabric may cause a problem.
