Advise or help

I am looking at what appears to be a very clean 1999 Newmar motor home. I found it on Craigslist and got a response from the owner
which directed me to a website called Vinton Auto and was able to view what appears to be a very nice unit.
My question is has any one here heard of them or dealt with them or knows of anyone who has dealt with them.
It is a consignment business for all sorts of items Boats RV'S etc. I am not able to contact owner by phone or veirfy were unit is located. This all makes me a little suspect of the whole thing.I have emailed the company thru their online email waiting on a reply.
Thanks
  • Let me guess. You buy it, they ship it and if it doesn't meet your approval on inspection you get your money back!

    Be very wary!

Just did a Google search Vinton Auto consignment and rip off came up in the search. They are a scam.
  • If you cannot go there and see it do not do it! There are too many out there that are scams. We even saw a friends coach for sale on RV Trader and when we contacted them it was not for sale. Someone simply had gotten the pictures from the site where they originally bought it. The people offering it for sale had nothing to sell! Send a deposit and we will hold it (or ship it as mentioned above) and that's the end of your money.

That should be all the information you need to make a decision, to walk away.
  • Without viewing, driving, testing etc. I wouldn't consider buying it.
  • I was interested in a trailer they were selling. It didn't take long to realize it was a scam.
  • Thank you to all that have responded. I have since decided to just move on as I even emailed the company and have not received a response. I felt from the beginning like most of you but when I saw the website I thought well maybe. I am going to look at another unit and have forgotten about this unit. Thank You all for your help. I knew better but sometimes you you just need a reminder.
  • Mel,

The above posts may be spot on, but not sure about one part of your post. You were unable to contact the OWNER with the coach purportedly at a consignment lot.

If you mean the owner of the coach, that would be normal. People put their coach on consignment so that they don't have to deal with the buyer. In some cases, the consignment lot can convey your desire to talk with the seller and they will return the call.

I am NOT suggesting this is on the level, but not sure we have enough info to suggest it is not. Indeed, first thing I ask is WHERE CAN IT BE SEEN. Get an address, google earth it, contact local BBB, etc or post where it is and someone here on the forum may be willing to go by and eyeball it.
