More and more they are adopting a "pride of ownership" standard. Probably because it is very hard to tell. I have seen some 2000 DP's that look nearly new. Newell advertises used. If they are going to be really strict you don't want to stay there.

Bottom line - there are plenty of very nice RV parks that don't have this silly rule. Very few parks do have the rule.

There is a park in Gulf Shores, AL. Very nice park, but has a very strict 10 year rule. Doesn't matter what your coach looks like.
We encountered the 10 year rule in Las Cruces, NM recently. But after emailing them a recent photo of our motorhome, they had no problem letting us reserve a spot. good thing too because there wasn't a lot of availability elsewhere in the area.

In many many years of RVing and hundreds of RV parks, I have never had a problem with the way any RV looks.
I have found out that if there are any problems, it is always caused by the people IN the RV, and not the RV itself. A nice new RV says nothing about the people inside.

My CC is 15 years old this year....not once was I ever asked its age. They might look out their window and see it sitting outside but never questioned its age.

I was told by a RV Park Owner in Lake Havasu City, AZ. it's that high end RV Park on the road on your way to the garbage dump, I'm sorry I forgot the name of the Park! Anyway, he told me the RV Park Association voted in a 10 year age restriction for RV's. This gives the RV Park leeway to not welcome RVers that do not maintain there coaches. The owner also told me that a RV that looks good, clean and well maintained that is over 10 years old is welcomed there, but a passing vote from the Home Owners Associating (this RV Park also sells private lots) is needed. Exactly, it's not a bad thing, just in the PC world we live in, they would get a lawsuit if they refused you for reasonable reasons.

These are businesses. A park full of run down rigs can't charge as much as a park that is more selective. They really don't mind if the rusted out hippy busses leave in a huff because it will cost them far more in lost sales than they would make of them.

Well, I'll preface this with I rarely stay at RV Parks and when I do it's most likely for a clipper club rally...

If I see a 10-year rule on their website, I won't bother trying them. If they don't post the rule, but ask me the age of my rig, I'll tell them the truth.

I understand using the rule to eliminate run-down, broken clunkers and squatters, but I get tired of rules not being rules and instead subject to the whim of the person in front of you (or on the phone) at a given moment in time. I don't want to have to work that hard to give away my money.
