Air Bag Replacement

I'm going to change out my front airbags, so I jacked up my MH tonight and took off the tire. With the A frame hanging down as far as it will go, it does not look like the bag can go up between the coils, I hate to take the spring out so has anyone here done it without taking the spring out?

  • I'm not throwing them out and putting new coils in, if I was doing that I would be asking how to change them. As for raising the front end appreciably, they did just fine until they started leaking. Most post is hav seen you cut the bag out with a sawzall, don't see how a hole would work

Better to through it all out and replace with Henderson super steer coils according to your loaded front end weight and be done with the air bags forever.
But if you must and hopefully you already have proper road height for alignment, otherwise you're wasting your time, as these bags won't appreciably raise the front end.
Anyway, you might try removing the old with a hole saw. With the new, use hot soapy water and twist them as tight as possible before attempting to insert them.
However, with what Camping World charges for replacing them, I don't feel it's worth the effort.

Don't use factory bags, get Firestone or Air Ride
First make sure the bags are warm, lay in sun for a while. Then roll them up at a slight angle even straight will do. They must be really rolled up tight so as to fit through the hole in the bottom of the A frame. I then used a cable tie to hold it rolled up. Then lubricate them good with liquid dish soap. Once in cut the cable tie.
Make sure you get the old rubber washers out of the a frame and the upper control arm. Make sure you put the new ones in.
Just for info I went through several sets and final decided to put variable rate coil springs in that I got from Henderson lineup. Took care of issues.
Remember the air inlet goes down.
Thanks, I'll try up thru the bottom, I did buy the firestones. They seem more like plastic than rubber
  • if gas you do as you said and cut them out and lube up the bag with baby power , glue on the washer first with a spec of glue and slide it in. We sort of need to know if P30,work horse, make, gas/diesel
