air bags 2012 dodge ram 1500? UPDATE

bought a set of air bags AIRLIFT 1000 helper bags for my dodge 2012 ram 1500. they insert inside the stock springs and than air up as needed.
just bought the bags no compressor or anything else.

has anyone installed these and if so any tips on a easy installation?
thanks

OK INSTALLED THE BAGS (not to bad) but here is my problem. aired them up to 20 lbs and went for a ride. came back and no air in the bags 0 psi... went to air them up again and just hit the air a second and the gauge shows 30 psi. go to let the air out and just push in the air valve for a second and 0 pressure is reading..... apparently no air is going into the bags just the air line.
any suggestions????????????????????????
  • I installed the same thing on my 2012 Ram 1500. Getting the air bags inside the coil springs was the easy part, hooking up the air line to the top of each bag was very difficult. Perhaps a better way is to install the air line prior to the installation. Both of mine leaked a small amount over the period of a week so I shot in some green slime and it's holding pressure after 3 months.
  • It's a pretty easy install, did my friends in under 30 minutes. Jack the truck to stretch the springs as much as possible and fold the bags up tight as directed. They go in pretty easy.
  • After they are mounted a good inflation guide is to measure from the middle of the wheel or hub cap to the bottom edge of the fender when the bed is empty and nothing is hitched up. Then after loading the bed or attaching a trailer, add enough air to give you the same distance from the wheel center to the fender edge and you will be nice and level for towing. My big Montana had substantial pin weight and the air bags worked great.
  • Helped a friend install a set on his tahoe.we both were suprised in the difference they make when towing.

We Jacked his vehicle up (place jack under frame not axle housing)this will stretch the coil spring..We applied huge amounts of GO Jo hand cleaner(not as messy as grease or oil) to bag and slide them inside the springs. We routed the air lines to a valve we mounted on hitch.just use a shop compressor to air them up.20-30 pounds was all needed on his vehicle to stop rear end swag when his trailer was hooked up
