When we were flooded in Foley last year the calipers got submerged. When we left the caliper hung up. I was able to free it and it seemed ok. We are now in Arizona and as part of my annual coach check up I checked the calipers and discovered one was completely rusted. Ugly situation. I found a set in Michigan but it appears they are rebuilds from China but still $1K each. IMHO, it's too important not to put the best I can find on the coach. The issue with the calipers is there was a patent infringement so they weren't too many made. Supply and demand I guess.
80,000 miles on the coach.
Extended warranty won't cover it because it's a rust situation. I'm waiting to hear from my insurance company....Dennis
Have you tried any of the TRUCK salvage houses? They are usually tied together in a computer network and can locate a part anywhere in the country. I understand both left and right calipers are interchangeable.
You say that the part in Michigan is rebuilt. What is so bad about that if it truly is a rebuild? In other words, the basic casting and main parts are original with a rebuild and the only parts changed are probably the seals, liners, etc.
