The whole point of the post was to mention an unexpected high cost repair. It had nothing to do with comparing a bottle rocket to shoes. :R
This was certainly not the first post on this board about an unexpected repair cost. There have been the $7000 radiators that corroded away. There have been the cracked head. There have been the hydraulic fan motor, and so on. There has been the $10,000+ failed engine. They are all unexpected repairs, that have nothing to do with the perceived value because you bought a high end coach. Obviously Dennis was shocked at the cost, hence his post. Sometimes stuff happens and it can be expensive if it is a Class A RV. It does not matter if it is a high end newer DP or an older DP that someone purchased for $50,000. Parts sometimes fail and those parts can wreck a budget if you are living on the edge with your loan payments. The coach in question is ten years old. When people come here asking about buying a ten year old coach they need to be made aware that parts can fail and even tho the coach is selling for a lot less than it did when new, that does not mean that those repairs are going to be discounted as well.
