air conditioner cycling

I'm looking for info on when rv air conditioners cycle.

assuming you have a big enough inverter to run air conditioner are you better off having it run continuously with no cycling?

for instane say an air conditioner runs at 12 amps but needs 50 amps to start up the compressor initially. seems to me you would be better off not cycling.

I suspect that 50 amps for a second or two is still far less than 12 amps continuously,, as long as the a/c is not cycling on/off every 10 seconds.
  • The compressor stops because you have reached the desired room temperature. It's not really an option that you can choose to use or not, unless you select a very cold temperature.
One option you might have is to select whether the fan turns off with the compressor or keeps running even if the compressor stops. This is often refered to as economy mode.

Inverter? Nobody I know does that.

Roadtreks electrical package does E-trek and it's variations.

how long depends on battery bank
  • You might be better off but unfortunately if it does not cycle, pretty soon it will freeze up.
