air ducts

So, while checking over rodent damage on the smaller of two air ducts in the back bin yesterday, I was wondering what that duct goes to. The larger (about 3 in diameter) goes to vent warm air from the furnace into the bathroom, but the smaller (about 2 in diameter seems to go along the back wall and then turns the corner and I can't follow it. What is it connected to? I want to make sure that I check it all out for further damage.

    Without anything to go on, brochure or owner's manual, my guess is that that little duct goes to heat a storage compartment. More specifically a compartment with water or sewer components in it. Tank(s), Valve(s) etc.
