Air horn solenoid valve

Does anyone have any tips on replacing the air horn solenoid valve? I found a replacement valve, installed it and for some reason have no power to the valve itself. Should be 12 volts there. I checked the main fuse and it is good. Is there an in-line fuse or an air horn relay that has a fuse that I cannot see? Thanks

Many of the OEM's use e a plastic bodied solenoid valve. They seem to be less reliable over time than what they should. I replaced mine with an aluminum block body one of an industrial grade. They are only about $30 and can be found at most industrial supply distribution outlets.

Do you have a link to such a source?

    Thanks.

I don't as I lived in the Toronto area then. But, if you google or look up pneumatic equipment industrial suppliers they are sure to have it. And yes, they sell 12 volt DC solenoid valves.
Hope you are doing well Brett, long time since Pamona.

Are you sure the original valve was bad? Without 12V it,s not going to work. I,ve started carrying a small 12V battery so I can test things, power portable LED rope lights, and to power my portable SAT dish. Doubt there is another fuse so I,d check the horn button next.
  • I had to replace the one on my Trade winds because the GK's were playing driver after I had blown the air down to put the jacks down. It turns out that the electrical parts get quite hot and use the air going thru the valve to keep it cool. Well. They were honking the horn with no air and burned out two in one day before I figgered it out.

  • Is your rig Gas or Diesel?

I have too much knowledge about rebuilding and then replacing a Hadly solenoid for my air horns on a gas engine.

Including having the solenoid sticking open at 9:30 pm while I was working on it and causing the neighbors to think a tsunami was coming.

I don't know how they are set up for a diesel.
