295/75/r22.5 tires take a lot of air volume. Most small compressors, while they will pump up to 150 lbs or even higher, will supply very low volume and are not able to run long enough to fill a large tire without serious overheating. In the past we have have stopped in at tire shops (Les Schwab on the west coast are great) if we needed a fill. They are very accommodating. Now of course with the DP we have on board air. We have an air hose long enough to reach all the tires and in 5 years have not needed it!
If you fill with the on board air system there is an important trick: Check your tire air pressure and make sure that the system pressure is not below the tire pressure or you will end up using the tire air to fill your system tank! On the other hand:
Note that the system compressor won't kick in until the pressure drops to somewhere around 85 lbs. If your tires are above that the tires may quickly dfraw down the tank pressure and equalise above the start pressure. You will then have to bleed air (fan down the brakes) to get the compressor to restart.
