AIR SUSPENSION FOR RV

Do a search for Cheap Handling Fix, CHF, here or on Google. If he can do basic stuff it is one of the first things to do.

Check tire pressures. Find your tire manufacturer inflation table, weigh and adjust per charts. A good staring point is the recommend pressure by the placard in you rig.

Balance you load, you will know after you weigh. If you can weigh each corner by its self, that will help to tell you what, if any, corner is off balance.

Start with the free stuff, then toss the checkbook at it

good morning everyone. My husband and I are new to the class A experience, having switched from a 5th wheel. It is a Bounder, 2003, 32 ft. with 24000 miles. Ford motor F-53 and chassis (gas). My husband is not used to the top heavy and sway feel. We have replaced all four stocks,
and installed a sterring stabilizer. The unit does have sway bars, both front and back; however; they may be to small considering the age of the unit. What now? or do we just need to practice? Thanks all.

I totally replaced the rear leaf spring suspension on my Ford E450 - - Which is not the same chassis as yours, but the challenges are much the same.

This is a big, and difficult procedure - - fairly pricey too.

I have the Firestone Ride-Rite air bags on all four corners of our coach which have somewhat improved ride quality, however, I found installation of Koni FSD shocks on the front suspension further enhanced ride quality.

You can easily add helper air bags, and they DO make a big difference. If you are handy with tools, you can do it in your driveway as long as you have a good jack and a couple jack stands. I installed Firestone Ride Rite airbag helper springs from SD Truck Springs a couple years ago to help correct my ride height and to help stabilize the ride due to worn leaf springs. I bought front and rear air bag sets along with a compressor and wireless 4-corner control system for the air bags, but have only installed the front so far. I replaced the front leaf springs last year, but kept the air bags. Made a WORLD of difference in handling and ride quality. My biggest problem now is that I need to install the rear bags to get the ride height back to normal. I look like one of these young bucks with their pickup truck jacked up in the front and squatting in the rear.
