Airstream Grand Tour, Winn View, or Leisure Unity Murphy Bed

Pros, cons, advice welcomed!

I know I want the Sprinter chassis. I am leaning toward the Airstream, but I do like the larger bathroom in the View. The salesperson for the Leisure TV said I'd have to wait about 10-12 months for one, saying they made only 700 per year, and there is no price negotiating. I have dealers close to home for Airstream and Winnebago. If I get the Winnebago, I definitely don't want the decals, have to pay more for full paint. I like the openness of the Airstream, with screens on both side and rear, but the tiny shower worries me.

  • One other thing to consider about sleeping arrangements is when do you go to bed and get up. If you both go to bed and get up at the same time, then a murphy bed or couch/bed in the main living area is fine. If one person has a different time schedule, then it can be a problem. I always get up early to walk the dog, and my DW likes to sleep later, so a bed in the back is the best setup for us. On the murphy bed, there have been some issues on grit and dirt getting on the tracks and putting it out of line.

At the end of the day, the best bet is probably going to be the Winnebago. They're hard to beat - all things considered. I would definitely steer away from the low production boutique brands, and the van campers.
  • no dealing on the LTV?? we bought ours in alabama paid 32k less than sticker ,they picked us up at the air port and drove it home. and it,s great. google the one you want and go get it,

    dean's sexy murphy bed

    no rivets on this beauty

so much depends on how you will use your RV. on the road all day with a different cg each night to simply rest? or spend several days at one camp spot with fairly minimal day tripping?

with the coach built on the back of a sprinter truck and sporting a big slide, winnie is a great deal more home like for staying comfy at the cg, with a LOT of beds. it is not bad as an automobile on the road, but it is definitely a family style camper..

the grand tour shines for extensive day tripping and cg hopping. however, it is constrained living space wise since it is built inside of a fairly narrow sprinter van. it's a highly gadgeted uber SUV. (what happens if you get water all over that carpet under the bed and rear trunk area?)

the LTV is in between the winnie and the airstream, with good size bath and huge bed for 2. i just can't picture enjoying the versatile lounge much if dean doesn't come along on the trip to jazz up the party
