Allegro opinions needed

Hey all :

Coming up on retirement and looking to up grade from a '93 vacationer to an Allegro, 32
foot gasser. We are open on the year 2004 thru 2007 depending on what becomes available.
Any advise ??? Thanks in advance.
  • I can't comment on the earlier years but we do see a number of them on the road. We have a 2012 Allegro 32CA and it has been great for the year we have owned it. We like it so much that it has changed us from "any timers" to "fulltimers". We are starting our search for an Allegro Red or Phaeton.

If you are interested in something a little newer, PM me and I'll send you the details.
  • The better year would be post 2006 if you choose a Ford chassis. 2006 was when Ford made changes to the power train with a 3 valve cylinder head and the five speed transmission. You will need to verify the chassis year. An 2006 choach could have been built on an 2005 chassis.
  • We bought new, and after 35k miles, I am pleased with how it has performed.

DW is talking another Tiffin, but I am so satisfied and know what this one has and performs, I am not interested in another MH at this time.

All the comforts of home. It handles well on the road, fun to drive and just the right size. We have a total of almost 4 years fulltiming in it.

The only reason for me to look at another MH is if one comes out and gets 30mpg.

Good Luck on what you decide.
  • Like luvlabs said, I see a ton of them on the road and I've talked to a number of owners and everyone is happy with them. And as Dale mentioned, I'd go with a 2006 or newer chassis if getting a Ford. Many improvements over the older one's.
  • We purchased a 2008 32 ft Allegro Open Road new and have been very pleased. We have made several trips to the western US, crossing the Rockies multiple times with no difficulty. You will find that Tiffin owners are quite loyal!
  • Just remember in retirement you will use it more - might want to get a bigger unit

A whole different subject, but why would they want a "bigger unit"? We went the other way - a smaller unit that has ready access to many parks and camp areas larger units can't reasonably utilize. Seems each time we look at "bigger units" we primarily find longer untis with a little more 'common area' but pretty much the same amenities as our shorter unit. We've been retired for a good many years and travel extensively - always entertaining to see the guy with the 'big' unit first walk into the campground and measure potential parking spots to see if he'll fit.
  • Had a nice looking Allegro DP pass me on the highway this evening. Probably about 35+ footer. I followed him till my exit, wishing I was not working this weekend.
  • We had a 2004 Allegro Bay that we bought new and kept for 6 years. It was a very good unit, lots of features and a good floor plan. We traded for an Allegro Red which we now have. Tiffin has great customer service if you have questions. You can also visit on the TIffin motorhome forum and find lots of information.
