Allison 3000 fluid change

Just curious if anyone has had an Allison 3000MH fluid and filter change with TES295 recently? I was quoted $875 for changing both filters and draining/refilling with TES295. I already have the TES295 in it so it's not a flush or anything special, just a simple change. I think that seems excessive. That was at a local Allison service center, who claims that they have never done a motorhome tranny fluid change. I have 90K miles on a 4 yo coach, and according to Allison's site I am due for a service, even though the service indicator says oil life 78%. Tranman says just run an oil analysi and look for any issues before changing, but I feel that I would rather just change the fluid so as to not have to worry about it. Any suggestions?

Allison does NOT recommend flushing. Drain, change the two filters (not aware of a third in a 3000. The filters from Allison come with instructions, gaskets, etc.

Pour in Transynd. Next change interval same as with Dexron III. At next change after that, you go to the extended change interval of Transynd.

    BINGO!!!

  • i changed mine myself and it was really easy. i changed all three filters and the fluid for around 200.00 and about a half hour. allison has very good instructions on the procedure :)
  • Get another quote. I did not switch to transend on my first tran service, I have had my RV for 9 years and just hit 60K, it would be a waste. Since your on the second cycle, Id shop around. Esp if they said we haven't done a Motorhome!
  • Does appear a bit high.
Changing the fluid is an easy do it yourself project if you are so inclined. Should take under an hour including changing the filters. Just follow the directions that come with the filter exactly. I find it easier than hanging the engine oil.
