This change was made by Freightliner during a transmission service. They were supposed to do filters and fluid. I started on a 2000 mile trip the next day but the shift and performance were way off. It felt like the transmission was slipping. The turning point was one morning as we left an RV park with a slight uphill grade. The MH would not pull the hill, the engine revved but wouldn't make it up without getting a run at it. We went back to SD Freightliner and they drained the fluid and changed the filters. The unit ran perfect straight from the garage and has had no problems since. The Allison was manufactured Sept. 99 and
has been serviced as per manual, and was never a problem before.
(San Diego Freightliner now has a policy of not working on any MH's over ten years old, as does San Diego La Mesa RV)
That sounds exactly like a transmission that was LOW on fluid, not the wrong kind of fluid.
