Allison transmission ECU location

I have a 2004 Fleetwood Discovery 39L. I am trying to find where this module is located on this unit. Can anyone help?
Thanks for your comments.

  • Mine is in the driver front run bay attached to the wall..which is kind of under where the pad is...I'd call Fleetwood customer support and ask them..
  • My Allison shift selector shows the "cat eye" symbol when I turn on the key to start the coach. The selector will not switch to "N" neutral and The engine will not start because the Allison ECU is telling the main ECU that the transmission is in "R" Reverse or "D" drive.
I may have a bad ECU or a loose or bad connection, but I need to locate the module to find out.
  • Quite likely your going to find it under the dash somewhere. The chassis harness is probably not very long to begin with and I seriously doubt the body builder is going to make it any longer. Usually the TCM is located on the passangers side under the hood. No hood, then start passangers side of the dash and foreword from that point.
  • I doubt that Allison would have any idea where your coach maker located the ECU.

This is up to the coach maker/chassis maker.

I would call Allison. Everytime we have had a transmission question, they have been very helpful. After that, I would call the chassis manufacturer if they are still in business or whoever services that chassis now.

We are currently showing an ECU problem, but it is with a module working with a particular sensor. It is a Freightliner part. We had the engine computer reprogrammed to remove that module from the mix so that we could run without going into limp mode. It's giving us a low coolant error, but there is plenty of coolant. We have changed the sensor, so the module has to be replaced. We are headed to Gaffney, SC, to the Freightliner Service Center.
