aluminum wheelsw

Hi Folks my name is Glenn and we just purchased our first Motor Home it is a 2004 Winnebago Adventurer 35U .. it currently has steel wheels with chrome liners .. I would like to change the wheels out to a polished aluminum type .. can anyone help me with the size I should look for... the MH is on a Workhorse Chassie with a Vortex engine .. I am also leaning towards Michelin tires ..any help would be appreciated thanks Glenn
  • Use the same size that are on it. They are stamped with the size somewhere. I love Mich Tires, used them for years.
  • Rockwell American, 2930 West Osborn Road, Phoenix, AZ 85017, 602.271.0031 is the only Alcoa Wheel dealer listed in Arizona.
  • Hi Glenn, I also own a 2004 35-U, bought it new in early 2004. You will want to get rims that will fit a 235/80R 22.5 tire. Go to Michelins website you'll have to do a little searching but they will have the rim size that you need on there and they will have other info. I'm buying new Michelins, I ordered 6 new 235/80R 22.5 Michelin XRV's through FMCA (cost $50.00 to join) and Michelin quoted me a price of $378.00 per tire where my local tire shop wanted $506.00 per tire. They just came in (mine were on backorder for 3 weeks) and I'm having them installed next week. The Alcoa wheels will add $2,000.00 to the price of your coach when you decide to trade it in or sale it later down the road. And aluminum wheels disperse heat way better than a steel wheel. Happy Trails
  • Are the studs long enough for the thicker wheels? If not, will be additional expense. If hub centric, also check for fit of duals.
  • Glen; Give S&S tire a call. They are located just east of Grand ave. on Bell rd.
I have been dealing with them for many years, they are a very reputable company. They have a 5 star rating.

  • You find a truck recycle yard and they will have a ton of those wheels for a lot cheaper than buying them new----I was lucky enough here in NC to get a 22.5 for $50 used when I damaged one----you only need 4 as the inside duel still uses a steel wheel.

True ,but many will not sell just the Rim. They want You to take them with the already mounted tire and ask $100 or more. It has something to do with damaging the Rim during the mounting /remounting process.

The other thing that is critical is getting the correct mounting style .

Hub vs Stud piloted! Most Newer Trucks use Hub Piloted wheels.

As previous posters have stated You may require Longer Studs so check that before You buy.

Buying Used may be a good deal but You may not want the upkeep compared to buying New Coated Rims from Alcoa!
