The difference in mileage on my 2002 Jeep Liberty and 2008 Buick Lucerne (with Northstar v8 engine) between Yuma Arizona and Sacramneto California is as follows:
Jeep Liberty in Yuma = average of 15.8 MPG
Jeep Liberty in Sacramento = 12.7 MPG
Buick Lucerne in Yuma = 18.6 MPG
Buick lucerne in Sacramento = 15.3 MPG
Jeep 19.6% reduction
Buick 18.2% reduction
DOLLAR IMPACT
Yuma 1000 miles / month jeep @ 15.8 mpg = 63.3 gals X $3.55 = $224.72
Sacramento 1000 miles / month jeep @ 12.7 Mpg = 78.7 gals X $4.06 = $318.74. That is a $94.00 / month difference per month for the jeep.
The Buick is about $82.00 difference - a total of $176.00 more cost per month in Sacramento. I am certain there are other states where this differential exist also.
Can you imagine the Billions and Billions of dollars extra Californians are paying for worse mileage. I don't know what it means in terms of air quality equivalence - ie. using 15 to 20 percent more fuel verses supposedly cleaner burning.
Idiot politcians and we elect them.
