When you consider all parts of adding ethanol to fuel, I sincerely doubt that we come out ahead anywhere. Our farmers certainly make out. I can't buy non-ethanol fuel anywhere around here. When you consider the lower BTU content of ethanol fuels and the lower fuel mileage that comes with it, and the extra volume of fuel that is consumed, and the extra fuel consumed buy the trucks that deliver it, and the energy used by the refinery to make more volume, and all the pollution associated with the above, you start asking yourself....how did we get here anyhow?
