amplifier switch

I have a 2004 Southwind 37C. I cannot find the amplifier switch. I have been told that it is somewhere near the switch box for cable, antenna dvd etc. I have moved everything in that compartment and all other compartments near the tv and cannot find any kind of switch. Could someone tell me where to find the amplifier switch on this motor home. Thanks

William
  • generally right where the cable from the tv or dvd player plugs into the wall. Very small button on it to turn it on/off.
  • The 12V power port & antenna connection jack wall plate is where they usually are. Look closely as they are just very small 2mm dot.
  • If the switch box is the one made by Winegard it has the amplifier switch built in and is turned on when you switch to antenna.
  • I do know the antenna was winegard, but I don't know for sure about the switch box. I will check that when I get back in the \mh.

    Thanks

  • I have a 2004 southwind 32VS, same as yours and there is a wineguard distribution box right near the front TV where you can select front and or rear and select ANT, DVD, VCR, SAT, CABLE and when you select ANT, it turns on the 12V power from the box that goes to the Antenna amplifier. there is no switch, just push ANT button. If you look at the rear of the box you will see the 2 12V wires connected to the box, I will try to find a link to what the box looks like.

    Wine guard distribution box
  • Thank you othertonka. Thats exactly what I have. I really do appreciate all of the info. I knew the picture on the tv was really good, but my friends kept telling me that I am supposed to have a switch in there somewhere. Since I could not find the switch I don't plan to check anymore. Othertonka, you have made my day. Thanks again to everyone who responded.

There are 3 types of amplifer switch (I am assuming you are talking about the pre-amp in the over the air antenna,, If you mean something else please specify)

Common are a wall plate, this now comes in 2 versions.
1: is a plate with a 12 volt outlet, an antenna connection a switch and a Light.
the other is the winegard Sensar pro, all connections are on the back but it has 3 buttons a column of lights (only on at a time) and two digital displays. Both are the size of a standard duplex outlet plate.

The other common one is a box of many buttons, USUALLY the left hand one says POWER and the others are grouped TV-1 (or main TV) VCR, TV-2,TV-3 AUX
and in each group are buttons for DVD, CABLE, SAT, Antenna, VCR (Save no DVD or VCR on the VCR group) to activate antenna turn on power and select antenna.

VERY RARE is a plate with just a switch and LED, note, this is the winegard offering, A body builder can use any simple toggle switch.

In this type (I have seen exactly one of these) the connection to the coax is a small cube hidden in the wall somewhere.
