amps

Got home today from a long weekend of camping. Plugged into my 50 amp on the barn and panel only shows 30 amp service. Checked the surge protector and they were reading 124 each. Both AC's are running and it shows I am only pulling 5 amps. Normally when both AC's are running I am pulling right at 20 amps.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Todd.

  • It says picture not shown due to my settings. How do I change the settings?

Use this pictorial on how to measure across the 50AMP Service receptacle... Keep in mind what your are touching with the AC VOLTMETER phrobe is dangerous...

L1 and L2 mentioned above would the same as HOT1 and HOT2 listed here...

That L1 and L2 are both 120v to neutral.

If you don't know what I just said, google up 'rv 50a circuit'. i'm sure someone will be along shortly to present a picture of it, and many discussions about it.
  • Are you positive both AC's are COOLING? 5 amps would be about what both fans would pull on the AC units if the compressors were not on. Doug
  • Id have a qualified electrician look at it for you. pretty difficult to diagnose unless I was there with a volt meter.
