An easy winter mod....headlights

As many have experienced, my headlights began hazing slightly. While I rarely travel at night, it still bothered me seeing that haze every time I washed the coach.

Since Google is my friend, I found the headlights on my coach were Dodge Ram assemblies. Off to EBay to see if I could find some replacements. I found some interesting assemblies. They had regular headlights and LED projector ones. I couldn't justify the projector beam light cost so I bought some cool looking replacements.

This was a nice project while waiting for the weather to warm up. Here's some before and after pics....Dennis

    Most lenses are actually very easy to polish to a like new condition using toothpaste or a commercial buffing type compound. But....the fly in the ointment is the very short time that they stay that way. I've tried coating them with a product made to keep them like new and it doesn't work. I've use Red Max Pro on them and that seemed to work a bit longer. My latest effort is Krylon clear spray paint. So far so good but I'm not too optimistic.

    It amazes me how these RV companies use so many different headlights from different companies. I have Audi Hella headlights. So far they still look new. I did have to replace a light bulb, but the beam itself has not hazed at all.

    Going to try cleaning mine up with toothpaste first. They are from the 1989/90 era Ford F-150 or Bronco. The tail lights are worse to find, being from the same era Isuzu Impulse.

    Did the same. In fact, we changed them out while at a RV Gathering last spring. I was getting tired of polishing mine out every three weeks or so (that's how hazed over they were). Found mine online - Mine were thE same as from a 2002 Lincoln LS - and changed them out. If I recall correctly I think that I only paid something like $250. for both (bulbs and sockets not included). I think Newmar wanted something like $250.00 each.

    Just remember to re-aim them as chances are that the factory settings will be "off" for your motorhome.

    I also tried "buffing/polishing" the haze off the headlights on our "new to us" 2002 Itasca 32V. Dennis, what do you put on google to search for replacement lenses/headlights?

    I was able to polish mine out to what I thought I was happy. But I like the look of those new headlights, going to have to check those out. Thanks for post, just cost me $, but I like that look.

    Nice. Both of mine were hazed when I got the coach, one worse than the other. I got one of the Mother's kits and did the wet sanding/polishing and one lenses came out really clear but the other did not. CC used Lincoln Navigator light assemblies on mine and I found one on Amazon. I guess I need to order the other one before they are no longer available.

    BTW, I love the color scheme on your coach. The combination of white and greens as the primary colors is really appealing. Too many rigs out there nowadays with really dark colors.
