Like the electric cars, but probably much worse, is the cost of the battery replacement when it is needed.
Some of the various automobile's value are depreciated based on the projected life remaining with the batteries. Apparently at that time, the cost to replace the batteries, and dispose of the old batteries, exceeds the value of the automobile.
Batteries are getting better, but they are also getting more expensive.
