And there goes the antenna!

I'm in the put the Rigs' keys on the crank crew. No problems yet but I'm sure I'll forget to put the keys there at some point.

I use a product called RVminders. They wrap around the steering wheel. Some of them are pre-printed with common stuff, like the antenna. There are also some blank ones where can write your own reminders. Since they are wrapped around the steering wheel, you cannot forget them before you leave. They are made such that you just place them around the steering wheel and they automatically wrap. Then they go straight when you take them off so you can store them easily, Highly recommended!

I haven't but broke a limb on a pear tree the other day with a load of round bales. Had trouble with the inter cooler hose coming off and was distracted. Tree needed trimming.

Well Monkeyman, the good news is that a new antenna is only about $150 and I am sure you will not forget to do that again, plus, you will also be aware of your heighth from now on.

It could have been much worse and been an air conditioner or even the roof.

The trailer was 9 feet tall, I'm just under 13 now. Takes some getting used to. We needed to get into the right lane and it didn't occur to us that the trees were low. Oops

over passes on the freeway will do it also, seen it many times

We also have a red light that says antenna up on the dash if we have forgotten to put it down, but good idea to put it on your checklist. I can't tell you how many people we and others have flagged down when they were leaving because their antenna was still up. Very common thing to do.

The RV parts store I work at sold 5 King Jack (fixed) antennas this spring/summer. Most lost to RVers that got lost and took a back road to get turned around.

I use a pitot cover from a plane

I used to use those signs on the antennae crank to tell me the antennae was up. Now I hang the coach keys on the crank so before I can start up I have to have the keys. Well they are on the antennae crank so I crank down and then take the keys to start up. That solved that problem for me.

Don't feel bad, it happened to me too last year. On our previous 2008 coach, I never damaged the antenna. Our new coach shows a message on the dash that the antenna is up (but you have to read the warning!).

I hit a utility wire at a RV Park and it snapped the bat wing from the arm, everything stayed on the roof. My antenna could not be repaired and it was replaced with a new one for about $150. I thought that was not too bad. Now, I velcro multi-colored strips on my steering wheel depending on what needs to be..... put away, lowered, removed, etc.
