Another Norcold issue

Ok guys I have a Norcold 1200 series refer that recently started tripping the GFI when attempting to run on AC...(works fine on propane) I measured the voltage at the refer plug in point and have 118/121 volts. When I unplug the refer and plug into another AC source outside of coach AC the refer runs fine and does not trip any breakers (albeit on a non GFI protected circuit just normal 15 amp house circuit)

I measured the resistance on each of the two heaters and was shown to be 58 and 59 ohms. The Norcold service manual shows the proper range to be 58-68 ohms on this model.

I also checked each of the fuses on the control module (good) and changed out the GFI just to eliminate everything I could think of.

Any words of wisdom anyone can share would be appreciated ..you guys have been most helpful on some other questions that I have had.

  • Loose ground or common wire somewhere in the chain on the GFCI circuit. This will cause exactly what you are experiencing. I would open up every outlet or junction including the panel and check for anything suspect. Basically check all grounds, common and hot. Check the bus bars for common and ground connections as well.
