Thin coat of grease but not on contact area. I do this on any area of exposed corrosive metal and when retightening screws, nuts and bolts too.

I've used them on various vehicles and the MH. Also sprayed the corrosion inhibitor on after installing them. It helps some. There shouldn't be any out gassing at the posts anyway. The battery compartment is cleaned when ever the coach is cleaned.
AGMS seem the way to go but with fairly new batteries, already in it and maybe seven years left, in them,, doesn't make economic sense to change.
The majority of 12 volt lead acid batteries are maintenance free. Seems like they could do the same for 6 volt deep cycle.

Alternator / voltage regulator regulator failing, and overcharging the batteries, causing off-gassing?

Under-hood temperature too high causing off-gassing?

Battery located somewhere that it's getting sprayed with water from the road?

I have used the felt washers but still found corrosion to be a problem. Less than if not using them, but still....

I found two things that seem to do a good job of controlling corrosion in the battery compartment.

I found some copper pieces in the plumbers aisle, sort of a flattened hooked nail looking spike used to attach copper pipe to wood. Attached one each to the top of the batteries with some epoxy. They become sacrificial anodes and corrosion finds them rather than battery compartment metal. Used to use pennies but they corrode away too fast. These spikes are much larger and last a long time.

Use a generous application of electrical conductive grease on the posts.

Works for me.
