The only way to determine if you have an excessive current drain is to measure the current. I would guess that after several days of inadequate charging, the battery just got so low that there wasn't enough left to power the refer or pump.
2 GC batteries in series have the same AH as one, but twice the voltage. So you would have 210AH. You should not have different types of batteries, or batteries of different ages, in parallel. The stronger battery will discharge into the weaker battery. The best location for the battery is close to the converter, especially with a modern converter.
