Any experience with RV Share

We recently sold the Winnebago Minnie Winnie because use versus investment did not equate. We are now getting "the itch" for a roadtrip and I "discovered" RV Share. This is a place where individuals rent their RV's. Any experience? Good...Bad...All comments appreciated.
  • I came to Horizon's same conclusion regarding joint ownership. I want to live in my own dirt!!
  • One reason I have an RV is that I don't like to sleep in someones bed.
But to each his own. What if the motor blows up or something. Where is the dividing line between your responsibility and theirs?
I would never rent mine nor rent one.

  • I've never used the service, but it doesn't sound like a bad idea. As long as I could inspect the unit before handing over any money and there was a plan of action in place in case of a break down, I would probably use it if I were in your position.

I wouldn't share my RV, but if I needed one and didn't have one, it seems like a cheaper alternative to Cruise America and the other big dealers. As long as you are not left standing on the side of the road in the event of an emergency.

  • We've seen some services offered through Craigslist, so they must gather some owners and offer their units through consignment.

Lower CPN would be great for me, but I'm not sure how much cleaning and extra maintenance effort/ expense We'd have. Plus I'm not sure I really want anyone in it after spending all that time personalizing The Moose.
  • Minnesota has a "boat club" and I've wondered why there isn't more RV sharing. Several car sharing programs too in the Twin Cities. CPN (Cost per night) drops dramatically under a shared ownership arrangement. We bought used to keep CPN down as we were unable to find anyone interested in buying a new RV under. shared ownership arrangement.
