I cracked a high dollar forged aluminum wheel when I hit a pothole on I-40 east of Knoxville, TN.
Aluminum, steel, carbon fiber, etc. - you hit a bad pothole, etc. and you can damage a wheel. The stiffness of the 19.5" tire has very little flex.
