Right, sorry, I should have said "the larger Phantoms". The only other units I have data on are the 28P and 31P, as we are not considering the 25-footers. The 23P apparently has the benefit of being super light.Idle-Up wrote:

Also I realize I may have misread this line originally, missing the "fully loaded" part. That's interesting. Nexus recently quoted me a UVW of 17,500. This is why I'd love to see the OCCC listed on the eight sticker for your unit. - Desert_CaptainExplorer III"I get that it's within GVWR. Just seems like less OCCC than I'd expect from a diesel. The gas Phantom's have the same 2000-ish OCCC, so I would have expected the diesel to give more, that's all.

Juan, OCCC can vary a lot by model/year. Sometimes the smaller rigs have more than you would think, Our 2012 23P (E-350, V-10), has 3,368#.
:C - Vacay_WheelsExplorerThanks for these details, I really appreciate it.

Butch - rest assured its a 6 speed for certain. It's the Allison wide range 2550MH (motorhome series) and rated for up to 30,000 gvw.
He's right then, NeXus really needs to update their web site. The Standard Features Page still lists "Allison 5-Speed Transmission 1350 Series". 2550 is a step up, they should take credit.Idle-Up wrote:

That's the theory. In practice, I've seen several forum posts from customers who went back to the factory to get a bunch of work done. OTOH, I've seen NONE from customers who were satisfied about getting all their warranty punch-list items done from a local service center.Idle-Up wrote:
The leveling jacks work fine and they are very quick. The Maxxforce 7 has good power, we live in the mountains of Ga and not one time did it downshift to 5th from Elkhart to Ga. The engine is dead quiet for a diesel, In fact wither you idling or doing 60 is no louder in the cab than a gas powered pickup. ... The coach handles remarkable thanks to its low GG and long wheelbase.
Super glad to hear these, thanks! It's actually shocking to hear you'd be running through mountains in 6th gear.Idle-Up wrote:

We can live with 2000 lbs, we just have to be thoughtful about what we carry. The DP's have 3-4000 it seems, so then it's like bring grandma and grandpa and whatever the heck you can fit! - Idle-UpExplorerHey Guys
Butch - rest assured its a 6 speed for certain. It's the Allison wide range 2550MH (motorhome series) and rated for up to 30,000 gvw.
Juan, let me answer a few of your questions - I haven't researched how many Nexus service centers however for me its really no different from any other motorhome I've owned. I've never bought a coach locally and very few owners travel back to the manufacture unless they have major issues.
Of course the chassis is covered by International which has over a 1000 dealers and the nice thing is they are not crawling though the motor home since the engine is up front and they only need to use the cab doors. Should you call Nexus with a problem they ask you up front if your getting service there or at a remote location. as you know all the appliances, Onan generator, jacks, etc. have service centers nation wide.
The leveling jacks work fine and they are very quick. The Maxxforce 7 has good power, we live in the mountains of Ga and not one time did it downshift to 5th from Elkhart to Ga. The power is comparable to a 36 Journey I had with the 6.7 Cummings. Our coach weighs out close to 17,000 lb fully fueled and loaded. Keep in mind these chassis (as a truck) are designed to carry this weight day in and day out so its not like anything is straining or overloaded - in fact I attribute the great ride to the fact the springs are in their designed load. The coach handles remarkable thanks to its low GG and long wheelbase.
The engine is dead quiet for a diesel, In fact wither you idling or doing 60 is no louder in the cab than a gas powered pickup. - Vacay_WheelsExplorerMike, I'm so excited to see that you're on the forums. Is this your unit? http://www.nexusrv.com/class-super-c-diesel-motorhomes/phantom32sc_n506_photogallery.php If so, NeXus posted a great gallery, so I have pictures of your moho all over my research notebook :) It's a great looking unit, very nice.
There are a ton of things I'd like to know as a prospective buyer. If you wanted to cover these in your review, or answer them here, or PM some of them back, that'd be awesome. If you'd prefer not to answer some of them, I understand that too. There is a real lack of independent info on the Internet about these units.- What did you have to get fixed under warranty? A specific list would be great.
- Where did you get the warranty work done?
- If at somewhere other than the NeXus factory, how easy was it to get your warranty claims processed and paid?
- How have the leveling jacks been behaving?
- Have you taken it over any mountain passes? If so, which was the toughest?
- If so, how did the power feel doing up? How fast were you going?
- If so, how did it feel going down? How did the retarder work for you?
- What is the OCCC listed on the label? I was surprised to hear one of these weighed 17,500 unloaded.
- How is the engine noise? Are you able to hear each other easily when idling? At freeway speeds?
- Did you get the "Touch Screen Stereo w/Nav/Sirius/Bluetooth"? If so, how do you like it? Any issues?
- Are there any options you wish you would have gotten, now that you've had it?
- Does the 40-gallon water tank bother you? Just seems a bit small for a 19500 GVWR unit.
Thanks so much!! - What did you have to get fixed under warranty? A specific list would be great.
