Everyone has that issue. It's no fun but it's purpose is to prevent fraud and theft. Since the station nor the bank know how much gas you'll buy they put a pre-set authorization against your card. This is usually $75. It is the same amount the station is guaranteed should there be a theft. It minimizes the risk to the bank, the station and you as a consumer if a skimmer or thief were to obtain your card or number and buy gas. I agree, it's not fun but neither is someone using your credit card or number. What's worse, unless you tell your bank you are travelling, some flag the account for "irregular" behavior. Ie: buying a lot of gas in another state. I work for a bank and had mine blocked when trying to swipe 2x to fill up the RV. I had to call and let them know I was travelling. We as good consumers have to suffer due to criminals.
