The limits are to protect the station in case of a stolen card use . ea station and card company set there own rules on what they think is a acceptable risk. Go inside and in most cases you can authorize a amount 2-3 4 hundred etc they run the card placing a hold on the funds blocking your use of those funds ( depending on your balance or credit limit that may be a problem for the next day or few hours) you can then pump up to that amount normally going inside again where they actually run the real charge. Your pre auth charge will then go away ... In theory... But it may take awhile for that thus the problem if your limits are close.
