- I was working on getting my jigs set up to cut grooves and dados in the plywood that I want to hopefully use for drawers.
I cut a drawer bottom, 2 sides, and the front and back pieces for one of the small drawers that will be used at the top.
I cut them from 1/4" (yea, right) plywood. It's more like .200 instead of .250 plywood, but that's another story.
I hung them up on my scale.
- I pulled out my scale today, and started weighing some different pieces of plywood and some cedar boards, to check for weights for use in the drawers on the passenger side.
There is a huge difference between something like a cedar board that's about 1/2" thick, and a piece of plywood that is 1/2" thick.
I don't think I'll be using cedar for the drawers, but I am building a couple of different drawer configurations to see how light I can get away with, and still maintain a sturdy drawer.
Depending on what the drawer is made of, they could collectively add up to a couple of hundred pounds. I figure, a little extra time spent finding out how light I can go, would be worth the weight savings.
I'll let you know how this shakes out. - I was working in the moho today, and the wife came out and said... Hey, how about some wallpaper in the kitchen, at the back next to the bath area?
So, I hung a piece up to see what it might look like. We may not use this particular design, but I think something back there might work.
- BigRabbitManExplorerOur kitchen at home is all drawers below the counters and is great. All except one narrow space for storing cutting boards etc on edge. Small drawer above it.
- Anyhow, today I started laying out the drawers for under the passenger side counter area.
I am not a fan of cabinets, as there is always a lot of wasted space, and I find that drawers are more efficient use of space.
Therefore, the passenger side is getting all drawers below the counter.
I used painters tape, to get a feel of how it would look.
The 2 bottom drawers on the right will be about 12 inches deep to house larger items like the Instant Pot, Bread machine, etc.
Those 2 will be about 19 inches wide and almost 26 inches long. All of these drawers will be near 26 inches from front to back for plenty of storage space.
The drawers on the left side will be about 13 inches wide and again, almost 26 inches front to back.
The 2 bottom drawers on the left, I plan on using a drawer face that looks like it will be a deep one, like the ones on the right side, but will only be slightly less than half the depth of the ones on the right side.
I am currently making a mock up of one of these to make sure it will work. - Yesterday was one of those days where intentions were good, but I got side tracked.
I headed out towards the moho and while going through the garage, I took a look at the snow blower, and thought to myself..... The forecast is for warmer weather for the next week or two, so I probably won't need this any more this season.
So, I decided to put that back to rest in the shed out back where it usually resides.
Well, just like the old proverbial snowball rolling down the hill, by the time I was done being distracted with other things that needed done in the shed, it was time to quit. Lol.
Well, I tried. BigRabbitMan wrote:

Thanks for the posts. :)- PastorCharlieExplorerGlue the assembly and just screw it in place and allow for some movement as the chassis twists on rough uneven drives. The drawers will still be held firm.
- BigRabbitManExplorerWith just vertical loads, I would just screw.
- Here we go. Basically, all I needed here is a structure to hold the drawer slides.
This area will be all drawers.
With the drawers in place, for the most part, all the weight/stress will be vertical.
Question for you.
Should I glue this assembly to the floor, and the bottom of the counter, or should I just screw it to the floor and bottom of the counter, just in case I decide I want to change it at a later date.
If I just screw it in place, I can remove the screws, and pull this assembly out, and replace it with something else.
What's your best guess?
