- WanderlostNomad IIDefinitely route it out and install flush. Much classier look.
- LouLawrenceExplorer III assumed you were going to improve the look of a plywood drawer by putting a full face on the front. I would vote for a full wood front. You could still use the walnut trim around the sides and something like Oak in the field to make an attractive drawer.
If you are really going to leave a raw plywood front on the drawer than I would vote either for no walnut or recess the walnut. I think the raised edges would get caught on everything and become annoying or chipped or torn. - Bruce_BrownModerator

Quick survey .... Put the walnut on top, or rout the drawer front out, and mount it flush? Whatta ya think?
Is this even a question?
Let me rephrase...
Should I cobb it together or do it right?
I will admit, I'm surprised you even needed to ask. - FloridaRosebudExplorer

- Here's a picture of one of the drawer fronts. he red arrow is pointing to the thin piece I glued to the top of the drawer front.
You will notice the red arrow shows the top piece sticks out over the front just a little bit.
I figured that would work a little better, if I butted the piece in the front up against the top piece, and then trimmed the top piece off after gluing.
With a couple of coats of Por 15 on top of them both, should help strengthen things there.

- Here's a quick look at the drawers with only the top of the drawer visible with the walnut covering the plywood edges.
It shows a little contrast. Not enough to suit me, so I'll have to add some walnut to the fronts as well.

This is a rough draft of a possible drawer front, with black walnut. These are just sitting there, not glued into place, just to see how it would look.
It does provide a little contrast.
Will this be routed in to be flush or set on top to provide a visual ant tactile feel? Either way, I like the contrast.
That's a good question. I really hadn't thought about it much, I just figured I'd set it on top of the plywood.- sundancer268Explorer
